In 2011 Joe became the Director of Circus Center San Francisco's, Clown Conservatory where he developed a 20 week course focusing on various physical theatre styles. The program's unique pedagogy was a dynamic and comprehensive mix of Clown, Circus, Theatre, Slapstick and Commedia dell'arte. The program helped develop and enliven the Circus and Clown community in the Bay Area, and continue San Francisco's unique contribution to these art forms. Many of Clown Conservatory's graduates have gone on to create their own acts and are now working in cabarets, theatre companies and festivals around the world.
